Joe Sledge is a North Carolina native and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he developed a love for exploring. He grew up on the Outer Banks where he spent all summers with sand between his toes, and the rest of the year waiting to get his toes in the sand. Joe worked for nine years as a special education teacher before writing his first book, Did You See That? A GPS Guide to North Carolina's Out of the Ordinary Attractions. He is very happily married and has a quite wonderful daughter, who gets most of his time and attention when he's not writing, and even when he is.
